Hacksmith Review: Mini-Sabers, Smith Blade and EDC Gear

Hacksmith review: what the official Hacksmith Industries store sells, from Mini-Sabers to The Smith Blade multi-tool, what to check on shipping and returns, and which current offers matter before you order.

Buying merchandise from a YouTube channel can mean anything from a logo T-shirt to a genuinely useful tool. The Hacksmith store, run by the Hacksmith Industries engineering team in Cambridge, Ontario, sits closer to the second end. Alongside apparel and collectibles it sells its own multi-tool, wallet, eyewear and the Mini-Saber collectible light sabers that grew out of the channel's builds. The question is less whether the store is legitimate and more which product fits what you actually want: a gift, a tool for daily use or a display piece.

This desk review is based on Hacksmith's published product information and the offers listed on Dealnory, checked on November 4, 2026. We have not tested the products. Hacksmith review: a maker channel's own product line

Hacksmith Industries is known for building working versions of fictional gadgets, and the store reflects that. The headline products are the Mini-Sabers, offered in Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 2 Dark Edition and Concept Edition versions with colour-changing inserts, and The Smith Blade, a multi-tool sold with its own replacement parts and a 7-piece bit set for the Smith Blade Pro.

Everyday carry accessories include The Smith Wallet, The Smith Shades eyewear and the Stealth Cap, while the tools section adds lighters and torches, consumables and parts. Rounding out the catalogue are men's, women's and kids' apparel, a stainless steel mug, books and stationery, playing cards, sticker sheets, collectibles and gift cards.

Mini-Sabers: collectible first

The Mini-Sabers are the store's most recognisable products, compact light sabers aimed at fans and collectors. With several generations and special editions, the main decision is which version and colour options you want, so compare the listing details for each edition and check which inserts are included before you buy.

Think of them as display and fan pieces rather than toys for young children, and read the product page for any age guidance or battery and charging details. If you are buying as a gift, the Concept and Dark Editions are positioned as the more distinctive choices, while the standard Gen 2 is the straightforward option.

The Smith Blade and everyday carry

The Smith Blade is the store's practical tool, and its separate parts section is a good sign for long-term use, since worn components and bits can be replaced instead of buying a new tool. If you are considering the Pro version, check which bits come in the box and whether the 7-piece bit set adds what you need.

Before carrying any multi-tool or lighter, check local rules about what you can carry in public and on flights. The Smith Wallet and Smith Shades are simpler purchases, but read the dimensions and materials on the product page, especially for the wallet, so you know how many cards it holds and whether it fits your pocket.

Shipping, returns and sale rules

The store is based in Canada and prices in Canadian dollars by default, with USD available for US orders. Shipping is free to US and Canadian addresses on orders over $100 USD or $130 CAD, calculated on Hacksmith products before tax and excluding Kickstarter crowdfunding items. Buyers elsewhere should check shipping options and any import charges before ordering.

Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery for unused items in original packaging, and you pay return shipping unless the item was wrong or defective. Sale items and gift cards cannot be returned, and discount codes and rewards cannot be used on sale items, so decide carefully during the current promotion.

Who the Hacksmith store suits, and who may want something else

The store suits fans of the channel, makers and tinkerers, and anyone looking for a gift for a gadget-minded friend. The Smith Blade and its replacement parts appeal to people who want a tool they can maintain, and the Mini-Sabers appeal to collectors.

It is a weaker fit for buyers who want the lowest-priced generic multi-tool, shoppers outside North America who may face higher shipping, and anyone who needs flexible returns on discounted items. If you are not a fan of the channel, compare the tools on function and price with mainstream alternatives.

Our verdict: decide between tool, gift and collectible

The Hacksmith store offers a more interesting product line than most creator merch shops, with its own multi-tool, everyday carry accessories and collectible Mini-Sabers. The current sale makes some of the most popular items noticeably cheaper.

Decide first whether you want something to use daily, something to display or something to give, then check the edition, dimensions and final-sale rules. Reaching the free-shipping threshold with parts or accessories you would buy anyway is the easiest extra saving.

Current offers and a sensible final price

Hacksmith is currently running a Black Friday sale with 50% off select Mini-Sabers, colour-changing inserts, The Smith Wallet and The Smith Shades through November 30, 2026, while stock lasts, and sale items are final and cannot be combined with codes or rewards. Orders over $100 USD or $130 CAD ship free to the US and Canada, the Hacksmith Rewards program lets members earn points on purchases, and unused full-price items can be returned within 30 days of delivery.
