Traverseon Review: Is Budget Solo Camping Gear Good Enough for Cold Nights?

Camping gear has a way of looking similar on a screen and behaving very differently in the rain. Two tents with the same shape can differ in weight, waterproofing, pole quality and how easily they go up when your hands are cold. Traverseon is a young direct-to-consumer brand, launched in 2024 by a team that says it has two decades of experience making outdoor gear, selling tents, sleeping pads, cooking and lighting kit, pet travel gear and SUV tailgate shelters.
I would judge camping equipment by the conditions you actually camp in and how much weight you are willing to carry. Budget-friendly gear can be excellent for car camping and mild weather, but the limits matter more when you head further from the car or into colder months.
The range and its prices
The tent I looked at in detail, the 1 Person Backpacking Tent in camo, was listed at $132.90 against a regular $172. Other tents include the AeroDuo 2P ultralight tunnel tent from $109.90 and the Stealthtrail 1P bivy tunnel tent from $139.90. An ultralight sleeping pad with a built-in foot pump was listed from $64.90, and an SUV tailgate tent canopy from $249.90.
The store runs an automatic multi-buy offer, saving 20 percent on two items and 30 percent on three, which can make a full solo kit noticeably cheaper if you need several pieces.
Looking closely at the solo tent
The 1 Person tent weighs 1.8 kg, measures 217 by 88 by 103 cm when pitched and packs to roughly 20 by 50 cm. Both the rainfly and floor are rated at 3000 mm or more, made from Oxford fabric, with aluminium poles. Setup is described as taking under three minutes, and the product page showed a rating of 4.68 from more than 100 reviews.
At 1.8 kg, it is reasonable for a solo tent but not ultralight by backpacking standards. It looks better suited to short hikes, bikepacking or car-based trips than to long, weight-sensitive treks.
Season limits are stated clearly
I appreciated that the product FAQ is specific about limits. The tent is recommended for autumn and winter but not for heavy snow, extreme wind or alpine use, and it is designed for one adult. Stakes and guylines should be used in wind or rain.
That is an honest description of a three-season tent with some cold-weather capability. For genuine winter mountaineering, a dedicated four-season shelter is the safer choice. For frosty campsites at low altitude, pairing this tent with a warm sleeping bag and an insulated pad is the more important decision.
Shipping and delivery times
Shipping is free on all orders, with extra charges for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, US territories and military addresses, and no delivery to PO boxes. Processing takes one to three business days. Delivery is estimated at three to twelve business days in the US, seven to twelve in Canada, five to eight in the UK and six to ten in Europe.
If you have a trip planned, order at least two weeks ahead so you can pitch the tent at home first. Discovering a missing part at the campsite is a poor way to start a weekend.
Returns depend on an add-on
This is the detail I would read before buying. Defects reported within 30 days of delivery qualify for a full refund, and transit damage must be reported within seven days. However, change-of-mind returns require an optional paid add-on at checkout, and there are no direct exchanges. Orders can be cancelled within one hour for a full refund, and Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases are final sale.
For illustration, a $132.90 tent used for eight nights a year over four years works out to about $4.15 per night, cheaper than most campsite cabins. That is a budgeting example, not a durability guarantee.
My verdict
Traverseon looks like a reasonable option for solo campers who want affordable, clearly specified gear for car camping and moderate conditions, with free shipping and a useful multi-buy discount. The honest season limits are reassuring, but the return policy is restrictive unless you pay for the add-on. I have not pitched these tents, so waterproofing, pole strength and condensation remain untested here.
If I were buying, I would order well before a trip, pitch the tent at home, check every part and decide quickly whether it suits me. Camping gear earns its price through dry, comfortable nights outdoors, not through how small it looks in the stuff sack.
