Starting a YouTube channel, a podcast or a habit of filming short travel clips rarely begins with an expensive camera. It usually begins with the phone you already own and a growing list of accessories: something to hold it steady, something to light your face and something to mount a microphone. Ulanzi sells exactly that kind of kit, from tripods and phone holders to video lights, quick-release systems, cages and backpacks.

I would approach Ulanzi with a simple rule: buy for the problem you have now, not for the studio you might build later. Accessories are cheap individually, but they add up quickly, and a drawer of unused mounts is a familiar sight for many creators.

What the range covers

The German store lists lights, tripods, phone mounts, quick-release plates, camera cages, smart displays and bags. Prices run from small accessories under €30 to larger tripods and lights in the €150 to €300 range. The homepage targets YouTubers, vloggers, travellers, podcasters and short-video creators.

The breadth is useful because many pieces are designed to work together through Ulanzi's own quick-release systems. That can be convenient, but it also gently pushes you towards staying within one ecosystem.

Lighting: the LC60 as an example

The LC60 LightOn is a 60W bi-colour video light listed from €179.99 for the standard set. Colour temperature ranges from 2700K to 6500K, with a stated CRI of 95 or above and 13 lighting effects. It also has a flash mode, although using it for photography needs a separate trigger, which is only included in one specific bundle.

The built-in 5000 mAh battery is quoted at about 40 minutes at maximum brightness. That is fine for short shoots but not for long recording sessions, so plan to use mains power or lower brightness indoors.

Tripods and stability

The JJ06 GlideGo video tripod is listed at €279.99, extending from 44 cm to 187 cm and weighing 1.76 kg. The specification table quotes an 18 kg load capacity, while a heading on the same page says 5 kg, so I would plan around the lower figure until confirmed. At the other end, the TreeRoot travel tripod is listed at €32.99, extending to 155 cm with a 5 kg load.

For phone-only creators, a small tripod or magnetic holder may be all you need. The MA67 magnetic phone holder was listed at €44.99 and a selfie stick tripod at €24.99.

Returns and warranty

Ulanzi offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for any reason on orders from its official website. Items must be undamaged and complete, and European customers pay return postage. Refunds arrive in three to seven working days depending on the bank.

The standard warranty is one year, with four years on listed models bought directly from the official site, including some TreeRoot and quick-release products. Claims need proof of purchase and are limited to the country of purchase. Damage on arrival must be reported quickly, within three working days according to the shipping page, though the warranty page says seven.

Shipping

Standard shipping costs €8, free from €99. Items in German stock arrive in three to four working days, while items shipped from China take ten to twelve. Most orders ship from Germany, and Ulanzi says it covers any duties. Orders can be cancelled only before shipping, and addresses cannot be changed after ordering.

For illustration, a €32.99 tripod used for three videos a week over a year works out to about 21 cents per video. A €179.99 light used the same way costs around €1.15 per video. That is a budgeting example, not a durability guarantee.

A sensible starter kit

If I were building a phone-based setup from scratch, I would keep the first order small: a stable tripod or magnetic holder, and a compact light only if most filming happens indoors. That combination fixes the two most common problems in creator videos, shaky footage and a poorly lit face. Microphones, cages and quick-release plates can wait until you know what kind of content you are actually making.

My verdict

Ulanzi looks like a practical source for creators building a kit piece by piece, with clear specifications, a generous return window and extended warranties on selected models bought directly. The few conflicting figures on product and policy pages are worth checking before ordering heavier equipment. I have not used these accessories, so build quality, light output and tripod stability remain untested here.

If I were starting out, I would buy a stable tripod or phone holder first, add a light once filming indoors became regular, and only then look at cages and quick-release systems. Accessories earn their price when they make recording easier every week, not when they wait in a bag for a project that never starts.
