Wallpaper can transform a room more dramatically than almost any other single change, which is exactly why choosing it feels risky. A bold print that looks perfect on screen may feel overwhelming on four walls, and a design that seemed subtle may disappear entirely. Wallshoppe is interesting because it combines designer collaborations with removable wallpaper, which lowers the commitment for renters and cautious decorators.
I would start with the wall, not the pattern. Wallpaper earns its price when the surface suits it, the quantity is right and the result makes you happy every time you walk in. A beautiful design does little for the budget if the paint underneath stops it sticking or the order comes up short.
What Wallshoppe sells
Wallshoppe sells removable peel-and-stick wallpaper, traditional pasted papers, grasscloth, murals and metallics, alongside fabric by the yard, framed art, gift wrap and commercial wallpaper. Its homepage features collaborations with designers and brands including Sarah Jessica Parker, Nathan Turner, Clare V., Sugar Paper, Meri Meri and Barbie, and it notes a feature in NYT Wirecutter. The FAQ says papers are printed in California with water-based inks on PVC-free, non-toxic materials.
That designer focus is a big part of the appeal and the price. If you want a specific print, the brand partnerships may justify the premium over generic peel-and-stick options.
Wall preparation is the first decision
The FAQ advises waiting at least 30 days after painting and cleaning the wall with 70% or stronger isopropyl alcohol. Removable panels need smooth, fully cured walls and will not stick to textured, stucco or concrete surfaces, or to Teflon, stain-resistant or low-VOC paints. Light humidity in kitchens and bathrooms is described as fine, but direct water or steam is not, and grasscloth is not recommended for bathrooms.
Check what paint is on your wall before ordering. Many modern paints are low-VOC or stain-resistant, which could make removable panels unsuitable even if everything else looks right.
Order samples and the right quantity
Samples are available for a small fee, with continental US second-day delivery listed at $10, overnight at $25 and international at $15, and they ship in about a week. They show true colour, scale and finish, which is especially valuable for large or bold patterns.
For quantity, the FAQ says to order the number of removable panels shown on the product page, add about 10% to traditional rolls for trimming and pattern matching and round grasscloth square footage up by about 15%. A roll is described as 20 linear feet or 60 square feet. Ordering a little extra from the same production run avoids colour differences later.
Production time and shipping
Wallpaper is printed to order with a production time of 14 to 21 business days, and rush production carries a 50% surcharge. Shipping is charged on a sliding scale, starting at a flat $15 for orders up to $300 and rising for larger orders. Plan the project with that lead time in mind rather than assuming next-week delivery.
If you are decorating for a specific date, order samples first, then place the full order early enough to allow production and transit.
Returns are very limited
Wallshoppe does not currently offer returns or exchanges on wallpaper. Exchanges are accepted only for damaged items reported within 14 days of receipt, and removable panels must be unused; once the liner is removed they are not eligible. Framed art also cannot be returned, with defects to be reported within 72 hours.
That makes samples and careful measuring essential rather than optional. Treat the full order as final once placed.
Compare the cost per room
Add the wallpaper, samples, shipping and any help with installation. Then compare that with painting, a feature wall or a different paper. Designer wallpaper is a considered spend, so it makes sense for a room where you will enjoy it daily.
For illustration, if papers start around $258 and a small powder room needs two units, the material cost is about $516 before shipping. Over five years that is roughly $100 a year for a room you see every day. That is a budgeting example, not a quote.
My verdict
Wallshoppe looks well suited to people who want distinctive designer wallpaper, including removable options for renters, and who are willing to plan around samples and production time. The detailed preparation and ordering guidance make success more likely. I have not installed these papers, so adhesion, print quality and removal remain untested here.
I would check the wall surface, order samples, add a sensible margin to the quantity and treat the order as final. The price earns its place when the room feels finished and personal. Preparation decides whether wallpaper looks luxurious or disappointing.
