Workliving Review: Is an Ergonomic Office Chair Worth the Investment for Your Home Office?

Working from home often begins at the kitchen table and stays there far longer than anyone intended. A few months later, a stiff neck or aching lower back makes the case for better furniture. Workliving is interesting because it is a Dutch specialist in ergonomic office chairs and sit-stand desks, with certification standards and long warranties listed on its products.
I would start with how many hours you sit each day and who will use the chair. Office furniture earns its price when it supports long working days comfortably for years. An expensive chair does little for the budget if it does not fit your body or your desk height.
What Workliving sells
Workliving serves both businesses and home workers in the Netherlands and nearby countries, selling ergonomic office chairs, desks, storage, meeting and dining chairs, accessories, a chair repair service and an outlet. Listed chairs included the Zuidas Comfort at €429, Zuidas Mesh models from €319 to €419, the Huiswerk Mesh at €249, the Atlas XL rated up to 200 kg at €599 and a Gispen Omnis at €499. The Manhattan electric sit-stand desk was listed from €469.
That range covers basic home-office seating through to heavy-duty chairs for larger users. Choose by fit and daily hours rather than headline features.
Check the standards and fit range
The Zuidas Comfort is described as meeting (N)EN 1335, the European standard for office chairs, with a load capacity of 125 kg. The product page lists a Donati mechanism with automatic weight adjustment, a 140 mm gas lift, a polished aluminium base, 60 mm wheels and seat depth adjustable by 7 cm. It also mentions 58% recycled material.
The same page gives slightly different height guidance, quoting both 160–190 cm and 151–192 cm, with NPR 1813 recommended for users over 192 cm. If you are particularly tall, short or heavy, look specifically at models designed for that range, such as the Atlas XL, rather than assuming a standard chair will suit you.
A 15-year warranty is unusual
Workliving lists a 15-year warranty on the Zuidas chair, delivered with full on-site service at home or the office, meaning a technician visits to repair rather than you shipping the chair back. Upholstery wear is excluded. The FAQ adds that statutory warranty applies to all products, plus manufacturer warranty where stated on the product page.
A long warranty changes the cost calculation because it spreads the price over many years. Confirm which models carry it, because terms vary between brands and products.
Delivery, returns and payment
Shipping is free from €30, with €6.95 charged below that, and deliveries are listed to the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and France. Some Dutch orders placed before noon arrive the next working day; other countries typically take three to five working days, and some desks have a ten to fifteen working-day lead time. Office furniture is delivered by Workliving’s own drivers to the ground-floor threshold, with upstairs delivery and removal of an old chair available on request. The Zuidas is delivered fully assembled.
The return window is stated as 14 days in some places and 30 days on the returns page itself. Return shipping is free only for certain brands from the Netherlands and Belgium, and custom products are excluded. Payment options include iDEAL, cards, Klarna and business invoicing after a credit check.
Compare the cost per working year
Add the chair or desk, delivery and any accessories such as a monitor arm or footrest. Then divide by the years you expect to use it. Ergonomic furniture is a long-term purchase, so a slightly higher price spread over a decade can be better value than replacing a cheaper chair every few years.
For illustration, a €429 chair used for ten years costs about €43 a year, or less than 20 cents per working day. A €120 chair replaced every two years costs €60 a year. That is a budgeting example, not a durability guarantee.
My verdict
Workliving looks well suited to home and business buyers in the Benelux, Germany and France who want certified ergonomic seating and sit-stand desks with long warranties. The detailed adjustment specifications, load ratings and delivery service make careful comparison possible. I have not sat in these chairs, so comfort and long-term build quality remain untested here.
I would choose a chair that matches your height and weight, confirm the warranty for that specific model and plan around the shorter return window. The price earns its place when your working day becomes more comfortable. The right chair is the one that fits you.
